The Communication and Research Foundation (CRF) works at the intersection of media, research, and public engagement to strengthen democratic discourse, promote ethical journalism, and empower citizens in an increasingly complex information environment. At a time when narratives shape realities and misinformation can travel faster than facts, CRF focuses on understanding, improving, and widening the spaces through which information is produced, shared, and consumed.
“Welcome to CR Foundation. We wish to build CR Foundation as a beacon for media integrity in Bangladesh. In an era of information overload, our mission is clear: to ensure that truth prevails, narratives are balanced, and journalism serves the public good.”

Media Monitoring & Narrative Research is one of the core and priority programs of the Communication and Research Foundation (CRF). Through this initiative, CRF closely examines how media narratives are shaped, circulated, and amplified–and what impact they have on public opinion and democratic discourse.
A dedicated team of nearly 30 researchers works daily to track, monitor, and systematically document news content and narratives across selected media platforms. This continuous monitoring enables CRF to identify emerging trends, dominant frames, and recurring patterns in media coverage. Based on these observations, CRF produces structured and evidence-based reports on a regular basis, particularly monthly analytical reviews.
The central focus of CRF’s media tracking is to assess journalistic standards and practices. This includes rigorous fact-checking and evaluating whether media outlets are misusing the space of freedom of expression to spread misinformation, disinformation, or false propaganda. By scrutinizing accuracy, balance, and ethical conduct, CRF seeks to promote accountability within the media ecosystem.
A key dimension of this work is narrative research. CRF analyzes how media portray competing and often conflicting public opinions, especially in politically sensitive contexts. The team examines whether certain media outlets engage in biased or stereotypical framing of specific political actors or groups, and whether media representation aligns with ground-level popularity and public relevance. For instance, CRF tracks cases where widely significant public-interest issues are ignored due to editorial bias, while comparatively minor issues are exaggerated or overexposed.
Through monitoring proportional representation, framing, and narrative balance, CRF generates insightful analyses that reveal distortions in media coverage. Ultimately, the goal of Media Monitoring & Narrative Research is to hold media institutions accountable, strengthen journalistic integrity, and contribute to a more transparent, responsible, and informed public sphere.
Media Literacy is one of the most vital and evolving programs of the Communication and Research Foundation (CRF). Designed as a multi-layered initiative, it engages with a wide range of stakeholders who shape, influence, and interact with the media ecosystem.
At its core, CRF’s Media Literacy program focuses on strengthening the professional capacity of journalists working across print, electronic, multimedia, and online platforms. Through specialized trainings, the program enhances skills in ethical reporting, responsible storytelling, effective use of technology, and the integration of artificial intelligence in news production. These trainings are tailored to meet the changing demands of modern journalism while upholding professional standards and public trust.
Beyond technical skills, CRF places strong emphasis on the ethical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of media professionals. In light of recent developments—including the tragic death of senior journalist Bhibu Ranjan Saha—serious attention has been drawn to the mental health challenges faced by journalists. Responding to this critical need, CRF has developed a dedicated module focused on psychological support, emotional resilience, and inner well-being, recognizing that healthy journalism requires healthy journalists.
The Media Literacy program also extends beyond newsrooms. CRF is currently piloting a separate module aimed at politicians, talk show participants, and other public-facing individuals who regularly engage with the media. This component is designed to improve media communication skills, strategic engagement, and responsible public interaction, helping stakeholders navigate media platforms more effectively and constructively.
Through research-driven design, continuous experimentation, and inclusive engagement, CRF’s Media Literacy program works to build a more skilled, ethical, and resilient media environment—one that supports informed public dialogue and a stronger democratic culture.
Youth & Citizen Journalism is a forward-looking and empowering initiative of the Communication and Research Foundation (CRF), designed to bring the voices of young people and ordinary citizens into the heart of the news ecosystem. At a time when information moves fast and grassroots realities often remain unheard, this program works to bridge that gap.
Through this initiative, CRF engages promising young talents and socially conscious citizens and introduces them to the principles and practices of responsible journalism. Educated youth and active citizens are encouraged to act as credible sources of information from their own communities, campuses, workplaces, and neighborhoods. By reporting from where they stand, they contribute first-hand accounts of events, public concerns, and social developments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The program emphasizes the role of participants as eyewitnesses in news-making and truth-seeking. CRF provides guidance on basic journalistic skills such as news identification, verification, ethical reporting, and responsible use of digital platforms. Participants learn how to document facts accurately, avoid misinformation, and present stories that reflect lived realities and public interest.
Youth & Citizen Journalism also aims to cultivate civic responsibility and critical awareness. By involving citizens directly in the process of information gathering, the initiative strengthens democratic participation and promotes transparency and accountability at the local level. It transforms passive media consumers into active contributors to public discourse.
By nurturing a network of informed, ethical, and engaged youth and citizen reporters, CRF seeks to create a vibrant grassroots information ecosystem. This initiative not only amplifies diverse voices but also helps build a more inclusive, participatory, and truth-oriented media culture.
We warmly welcome you be partner with us in various ways. We are looking forward to your expression of interest…
